In Detail

Galudih is a small hilly town in East Singhbhum District of the state Jharkhand. It is in the Chotanagpur Plateau stretches from lower land to highland of the plateau. Galudih is a pure health resort for its pleasant climate and Mother Nature  , surrounded by the thick forest  and located on the bank  of  nicely named  river Subarnarekha. The great Bengali writers Rabindra Nath Tagore and Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay mentioned the name of the river in different episode of their literary works. One More  River Satgurum  is flowing just on the outskirts of the Galudih. Seven streams of the river encircle the seven separate hills for seven times  ,  thy the  river named as Satgurum.

 

ABOUT GALUDIH …………..
Galudih comes out as a sweet lovable  destination among the  nature lovers , located just 9 km away from Ghatshila and about 43 km  from Jamshedpur. walking to the hills on the little snaky way in between the jungle ,  far from the mundane city life, rejuvenates you ,  tuned you refreshed you… . Elephants and Deer may be seen on the way around , used to come down from the hills in search of water to quench their thrust  to  the  near by villages down the hills very often. Nekra Dungri, Phuldungri and the Rukmini Hill may lure you to have a short trek. You will found several mountain rivers gushing down as waterfalls from the top of Dharagri mountain ranges at Galudih.Sometimes after a short lazy walk down the Subornorekaha  , sitting idle on the sacattered stone on the bank of the river helps you to be discoverd the Origanal YOU inside , has been lost or faded out by the time   .. once in a Soft Lonely Touchy  evening coloured by the  crimson red Setting Sun in the Dusk …...

 

How to reach …………
By Rail
Nearest Railheads  Galudih  Itself , some express trains and all passenger trains used to stop.  You can come down from Ghatshila Railway Station (just one stoppage before Galudih) , located around just 8 km away from Galudih. Ghatshila is well connected to 3 Metro cities of India namely Mumbai (Bombay Express), Kolkata (Steel Exp and Samleshwari Exp) and New Delhi (Neelachal, Purushottam Exp and Utkal Exp). There are many Local Passenger trains connecting Jamshedpur and Kharagpur with Ghatshila.
68003/Howrah-Ghatsila MEMU  : Starts from 9:55 AM from Howrah and reach Ghatshila around 1:40 PM noon .

Ghatshila Howrah MEMU – Start from Ghatshila at 13 : 50 and reach Howrah at 6 PM evening .
By Road ………
Galudih maintains a distance of about 272 km from Kolkata, 42 km from Jamshedpur and 8 km from Ghatshila. Those traveling from Kolkata first have to take NH-6 to Baharagora and then take the road to Jamshedpur. Buses plying between Kharagpur and Jamshedpur pass through Ghatshila and then to Galudih. Buses going from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata to Jamshedpur and Ranchi also pass through Ghatshila.

By Air……
There have no airports in Galudih. If you plan to visit Galudih with airways then the domestic airport of Ranchi will be suitable to you. The airport of Ranchi is located 111 km away from the city. All the major cities of India are connected to the airport of Ranchi by several regular flights. After reaching Ranchi you can travel to Galudih with a train or bus.

Near By…
Bibhuti Bhusan Library constructed in 1950 respect to the great Bengali writer Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhya. Bibhuti Babu visited Galudih in 1930 during one of his weekend holiday from Kolkata. He liked this place very much and wrote several episode of his literature about the nature beauty of Galudih.

Phuldungiri is a small hillock located about 3 km away from Galudih on the National High Way No-33. There is spiral pathway through which one can drive up to top of the hill. The hillock is heavily covered with lots of tall Sal trees and its pathway covered with red pebbles which attracts lots of tourist.

Burudih Lake located just 4 km away from Galudih , constructed during the British colonial rule. A large fair named the Binda Mela is celebrated on the bank of the lake, every year in the month of October (Ashwin Month). There is a famous stone locally named as Panch Pandav.

Ratmohona is a popular tourist attraction around Galudih on the bank of Subarnarekha. It is famous for witnessing the sunrise and sunset. On the way of this spot you have to cross Galudih barrage.

Dharagiri Waterfall is located about 7 km away from Galudih. It falls 20 ft down from Dharagiri Hill. You will found here a prehistoric stone curving on the falls riverside and a Kali temple. This region is a forestry hilly type and perfect for picnick , you can drop it also from my aspect.

Ancient Temple Complex of the Royal Dhalbhum palace is another tourist attraction in Galudih. There have some old temples like Tribeniswar, the Dashbhuja temple and the Langta Kotal Mandir. These temples are private property of the Royal family.

Rajbari is almost ruined, situated about 4 km away from Galudih. Today some portions of the palace are converted into the SDO court and government offices.

Duarsini is just 40 to 45 minutes drive  , if you feel interested about  the Hat(Market) at the Forest on the bank of River Satgurm inside the Jungle then be there at Wednesday afternoon.

RankinniTemple at Jadugada on the highway if pronounced in Bengali sounds Rukkini … basically it’s a One Single stone worshipped as DeviDurga by the Bhumij cast priest of Shada village and it’s very famous and popular in and around the vicinity.Most of such Temples in India has it’s own story  may be known or unknown
that’s makes the history unknowingly , keeps blowing in the wind with the time , spreads locally and when it touches you , if your instinct vibrate gently then you liked it and asking for more….starts digging…
anyway belived it or not  try to visit once  , I think that doesn’t disappoint you ,  if you have a faith on God then you MUST visit…never know perhaps it may console you…

Far away …
Can visit to Tata but it may took a whole Day and surely make a hole on your pocket if hired a car. Can visit till Dalma and Chandil Lake also … but it will be a bit hectic.

 

Best Time To Visit :
normally November to March but if you are fond of rain then must visit at late july…makes you wet in all aspect but not sloppy for sure .
Staying :
You will have a good Accommodation like Homestay at Galudih , tariffs are reasonable in addition with a homely food facilities.
conclusion from LITTLEWINGS :
Galudih is very good selection as a weekend trip along with Ghatshila..if you have time limitation let say for 2 nights , just dabbeled in and around the Ghaludih if you can arrange
an extra then options are ..have a trip to Jhamshedpur with Dalma & Chandil .. OR via Duarsini.. Bhalopahar through Bandwan till DOLADANGA… on Single Day Trip by car.
