About Kapistha …….
Koro Hill is quite a popular tourist attraction in Bankura. The hill is 400 feet high with a hamlet called Amarkanan at its foothills. This scenic location is only 19 kilometers away from Bankura and mostly known as picnic and trekking spot for tourists and locals .
Like every other tourist spot in Bankura, this place also has a beautiful and old temple of Devi Parvati or Durga also known as Savitri situated atop the hill and the Shivalinga along with his pet the Bull. ” Simplicity ” , “Quiet ” , ” Playfull Silence ” you will understood the proper meaning of those three word over here …. There is also Badrinath Hill close by which is an established center of Jainism. The diversity in the flora of this hill is mesmerizing. Amarkanan village derives its name from the famous freedom fighter Amar Chattopadhyay. The Ram Krishna Seva Dal Ashram situated in this village has realized the mission of the freedom fighter helping the people become independent. This Ashram which has now become one of the supreme attractions of the village was established by Dri Gobinda Prasad Singha, who was a zamindar and a Gandhian freedom fighter himself.
The ashram has a formidable history and was visited by the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Satish Dasgupta and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose among others.
How to Reach……..
It is easy to reach the Koro Hills and Amarkanan from Bankura by boarding a bus. The journey is quite smooth through the village roads. If you are coming from Durgapur, board the Durgapur-Bankura bus from SBSTC and you can reach the spot. Private minibuses are also available from Durgapur (39 km) or Bankura (22 km) via Amarkanan.
Koro Hills is a beautiful tourist destination and standing at the temple you can view the Gangdua Dam on Shali River and also the famous Susunia hills within 12 kilometers distance from Koro Hills. The Kapistha is a nice getaway from the din and bustle of city life .
Best Time To Visit ……
Just avoid the summer more presicely the month of May , June , July but the best is Winter December To February ….
Accomodation Details …….
For Staying at Kapistha is not as good enough as you liked the place along with the IDOL , more over it’s below average. They have a guest house but not yet completed till 2016 Dec the last time when I visited.
Conclussion ……
If you like the pictures then must visit and make it as a Day trip satying at SUSUNIA , Come down over here at Morning , can have Prasad (Strictly VEG ) and stay as much as you want to spent here and come down. The Place is Oridinary and may be as Common as any other places in Bankura District … but some times lifeless ordinary makes a place Extraordinary …. if possible make it once in your lifetime and for sure Kapistha will not let you down , who knows perhaps you might like to visit here again ….
