This lonely beach has other attractions a fully operational Lighthouse in nearby Dariapur, an age-old temple of Kapalkundala and Deshapran Fishing Harbour at Petuaghat all within 7 Kms of Bankiput. The kapalkundala temple finds its mention in the novel of Bankim Chandra.
Pethuaghat is located on Rasoolpur River, where it meets the sea is around 5 KM from Bankiput. Desharpan fishing harbor is must see in Pethuaghat. You can have a close look of fishing trawlers in this harbor. Fish lovers can buy some fresh as well as dried fishes in this harbor.Junput( 5 km ) and Haripur( 8 KM ) are nearby beaches one can visit.

Bankiput by Train
The two trains are available from Howrah to Kanthi (Contai)on Regular basis. From kanthistation you may hire trekker or private taxi to reach Bankiput.

Bankiput by Road……..
One can board a Digha bound bus from Esplanade(Dharmatala) and four and half hour journey will reach Kanthi (Contai). From here, you may reach Bankiput on a hired carriage.
By own vehicle you can go Via NH – 6(Bombay Road)
Kolkata – Kolaghat: 72kms.
Kolkata – Nandakumar: 101kms.
Kolkata – Contai: 154kms.
From Contai (Kanthi) take the road towards Junput. After reaching Junput stand, you have to take the road connecting Baghaput. Just halfway towards Baghaput, you would find a bifurcation towards Bankiput.
Bankiput is Located in PurbaMedinipur, West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay of Bengal. It is an isolated beach located very near to Junput (4 kms).

Bankiput is a all weather tourist destination and can be visited all through out the year. However October to March is the best time.

Bankiput offers only one two storied guest house, which has six double bed room options. This guest house is very near to the sea beach and guests are offered good Bengali food.
If want to isolate yourself from the busy life and would like to walk around the beach alone with flooded moonlight along with the whispering gentle wind. This is your place to be with.
