Existence of Maromar certainly known by it’s age old Tree House named KUSUM BARI or KUSUM TREE HOUSE used to stand in the Maromar Forest Rest House campus since 1945 approximately where as the Bungalow fabricated in the year of 1939 or may be 1933 stamped on the wall , located just 55 to 60 km away from BETLA NATIONAL PARK marked as BUFFER AREA , near by Police station and small market area is GARU.
The place was immensely lonely then and it hasn’t been changed still now except the new tree house and the boundary wall border.I haven’t seen KUSUM BARI but got the information and the original picture from a blog of ZEHRA KAZMI on Maromar and really thank full to her.
The most important thing about the old Tree House was that the whole Tree House had been topped on an age old full fledged KUSUM tree as freezed on the photograph by ZEHRA KAZMI and it’s stem was wrapped up by the four concrete pillar for load sharing as same as the technically correct Tree house used to built up earlier by the Forest Dept , usually wood had been used thoroughly except Washroom fittings.
The original KUSUM TREE HOUSE burnt down during the NAXALITES movement of JHARKHAND on 2007. That’s all about the history of KUSUM BARI or KUSUM TREE HOUSE at MAROMAR .
Miss Kazmi used the adjective DESOLATE in conjunction with LONELY about the MAROMAR ambiance along with the old KUSUM TREE HOUSE.I haven’t been stayed and seen the old KUSUM Tree House but never ever felt MOROMAR as DESOLATE on my fourth last visit on NOVEMBER 2019 since 2015, though the full wooden Tree house has been replaced my the concrete one now and only the inner portion decorated by the wood except the attached washroom.Usually wooden decorated room often looks gloomy and shabby if the lighting hasn’t been done properly and that I experienced at BETLA OLD TREE HOUSE.
To me MAROMAR is more profound , intense, has a good depth . MAROMAR has it’s own separate chord on which it got tuned already, you have to pull the right one to feel the charm of MAROMAR and got yourself tuned by the ambiance of the place else MAROMAR will be ever more elusive.Tree House , Room inside , vicinity , above all the ambiance makes MAROMAR a picturesque spot and you felt deep in your heart that almighty has sketched down just perfect as a whole for the jungle lover’s.
Now the BUNGALOW is still there carries it past significantly and the KUSUM TREE HOUSE has been replaced by the new one with the time , solar power used to make you warm what you will be seeing here both on live and still form at the Gallery section of MAROMAR.
There are Two Tree House each one having two double bed room with attached western style washroom shared a wide common stretched balcony in front.
Location wise the second one is much more thrilling because by any chance if you fallen down from the side balcony stretched on the jungle side, you will surely found yourself lying down directly in the jungle itself outside the boundary wall.
The wild Elephant can easily pick you up from the open balcony at the back or can have a toast of whisky with the elephant if you would love to.
##First carry your ration or raw materials for cooking , care taker will prepare the food.
## MUST carry the proper ID card of all.
## You have to arrange the driver accommodation & Food , will be managed by the caretaker itself.
##Carry the medicine as required.
## Better to visit MAROMAR by local car and with a local guide. The place is so deserted if anything happens then the driver and the car will be very help full indeed.
## Better not be here with the old ones and the new born . If they are with you ,don’t stay here overnight.
## SUGABANDH the picture itself will depict the beauty of that place so well and please never forget to carry a towel & shorts to get wet here if you wish to . The name of the river is BURAH that flowing down from LODH FALLS till here.
The entry of the River BURAH at the JHARKHAND from CHATTISGARH is mindblowing , incidentally the LODH FALLS . Later it get inside the jungle and flows down through the BAGE CHAMPA village inside the KOJRUM BUFFER AREA , you can visit here too on JUNGLE SAFARI but always venture with the LOCAL guide.
## MIRCHYA FALLS boldly shows his presence during the rain and continued to be seen as Full Falls format till two to three months after rain.
## you may like the jungle Safari at KOJRUM though the place known as buffer area of Palamu Forest Range.
##The simplicity of the river KOEL will mesmerize you to the most . The spot is simply picture perfect and carries the natural beauty of the CHOTONAGPUR plateau so well , if i will be little more elaborate it should be perfect to say that the RIVER KOEL flows down so gently , you will never heard a sound of it unless you dabbled and standing on the bridge at the late november afternoon makes you enthralled to the fact that your presence complete the KOEL CANVAS , just like the dark spot of the MOON and again remind you, don’t forget the CAMERA & TOWEL.
## BETLA is just 65 km away from you.
##If you would like to feel abundant then please be there at ANKSHI FOREST BUNGALOW. Atleast can have a cup of Tea or may finish you breakfast over here and you will be delighted i think.
##BARESWAR BUNGALOW is well decorated and quite safe also but not like the MAROMAR & ANKSHI as per as me.
##LODH Falls is just 50 km away.
BY ROAD Maromar is well connected to DALTANGANJ via BETLA else can come down from NETARHAT getting down at RANCHI drop at LODH FALLS on the way in between NETARHAT and MAROMAR. Private Vehicle is your only option either owned or hired.
Avoid Rain & Sun , rest are all good and usually it remain closed from JULY TO SEPTEMBER as per as the National Park Rules. Best be here in between November to March. DECEMBER middle to mid JANUARY is really chilly and remains foggy sometimes.FEBRUARY , MARCH is the best as per as me.
if you love the picture and get aroused by the adrenaline rush ..then you will surely drop at MAROMAR once..

BISHNUPUR – “Temple Town” of West Bengal with a rare blend of rich Cultural background in Traditional Classical Music renowned as “ BISHNUPUR GHARANA ” as Famous like “ MAIHAR GHARANA “ and is the only self-proprietary Traditional Classical Music GHARANA of the entire east region of our country. The foundation has been set up under the constant royal patronage of MALLABHUM and the initiation has came through the hand of the king RAGHUNATH SINGH MALLADEB at 1702, he himself invited USTAD BAHADUR KHAN from DELHI to lay the foundation of the Traditional Music of BISHNUPUR and later that has been carried away quite gracefully by SRI RAM KUMAR BHATTACHARYA and GADADHAR.
The BISHNUPUR has its own significantly rich historical past, each pasted terracotta tiles on the Temple wall carries that proudly since from the very beginning.
About BISHNUPUR……
BISHNUPUR is a town in the BANKURA District of West Bengal, was the capital of the MALLABHUM kingdom. The place where river met the ocean used to be known as “ ESTUARY / CONFLUENCE “ a single word just can’t be all for it. The Place more precisely the DELTA that witnessed the end of a rich event full journey of the river GANGA from source to confluence couldn’t be engrossed in any single word and is not justified also.
The River Ganges one of the most significant river of our country not only geographically rather attached with us spiritually, historically best to say attached quite inextricably in all forms of our life and it’s completely unsolicited. The Place where such an omnipresent river that plays an important role in MAHABHARATA also loses her existence rather say get united with the BAY OF BENGAL by forming a delta at the confluence after covering the whole north east region via capital.
That prolonged journey had begun from the great Himalayan region carrying lots of experience on the flow that in turns enriched our history moreover us, couldn’t be simply pronounced just in a single word Estuary or confluence may be convergence. No, that should be huge in terms of vastness and holiness. That DELTA formed on the confluence here is none other than GANGASAGAR , the name itself depict the scenario quite well as the river GANGA meet or get united to the SAGAR or OCEAN.
All the above words used to make you feel the depth and importance of the SAGAR ISLAND or GANGASAGAR and want you to carry all the incident in your head otherwise you won’t be able to touch the soul of the GANGASAGAR, else it will get ever more elusive provided that if you would love to…..
It has to be said in Bengali ….
“Sab tirath bar bar, Gangasagar ekbar”
means may we visit other holy places several times – but a visit once to Gangasagar is worth a life-time, keeping it in mind Hindus from all over the world from every state of India reaches the confluence of Ganges at Sagar Sangam situated in southern part of West Bengal in India.
Actually in the early stage it was really tough to access the GANGASAGAR, the river Ganga is the only way to come down, so by default only the BOAT is used as communication instrument and took several days travelling on the river to reach Estuary and again you have get back to the same way from where you have started. The journey was not so easy rather boring and monotonous sometimes became painful also for the average people not for the rich because they have their own luxury boat known as BAJRA and quite well equipped both from inside and outside.
GEOGRAPHICAL DETAILS:
Gangasagar or Sagar Island is an island in the Ganges delta, lying on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal about 100 kms (54 nautical miles) south of Kolkata. The island is large with an area of 224.3 kms.
ABOUT THE PLACE:
Gangasagar is a charming tourist destination, attracts both pilgrims and nature lovers those who mostly love to visit the river confluence. Located on an island in the Sundarbans, Gangasagar has a kilometres long horizon kissing beach on the estuary of the river Ganges with a picturesque lighthouse at the corner.
“Walk in the cloud “you have heard the phrase quite often but have you ever felt it in your life before …? When the wind blown away the loosely bound silvery white sand above your feet on the hard surface over the sandy beach at the late afternoon, the above phrase will come alive incidentally. I have passed through it but couldn’t able to capture it, all that happens suddenly, I was so thrilled, forgot to capture the moment. If you are lucky enough …could experience that too. The profound and quiet sea, full of young & restless small playful waves hits the sand uninterruptedly, clear blue sky on top makes the beach magical sometimes turns it to paradise for the visitors who would love to spend their weekend in peace & tranquillity.
NOW LET ME PUT SOME LIGHT ON THE RELIGIOUS PORTION:
Gangasagar is still relatively unknown and thus little bit unexploited. Gangasagar is one of most popular Hindu pilgrimage places in the country. Each year on Makar Sankranti usually falls on middle of the January, large number of devotees from all over the nation, congregate at Gangasagar for a sacred dip at the convergence of the river Ganga and the Bay of Bengal. After the sacred dip, the pilgrims offer ‘Puja’ at the Kapil Muni Temple or Ashram. The name Gangasagar used to found very often in several Hindu myths.
The original site of the temple has been washed away by the sea. But an attractive new temple has replaced the previous temple. There are the emblems of the Sea, Ganga Devi and Bhagiratha besides that of Kapil Muni and block of stone which is anointed and worshipped.
About Naga Sadhus and Sanyasis
Among thousands of pilgrims who attend Gangasagar Mela are the Naga Sadhus. They live in camps, where they perform rituals. These rituals are attended by many devotees. If you are interested about them please do visit the SAGAR MELA. Those Nagas used to be seen in a large quantity at the KUMBHA MELA again.
About the Gangasagar Mela:

HISTORY ####
GARPANCHKOT will never be known completely without the rich past under the SINGH DEO dynasty. In Bengali “ GAR “ means FORT AND THE FORTS are generally used by the EMPERORS & KINGS in Bengali or Hindi RAJA’S & MAHARAJA’S , the obvious questions popped up automatically if you are inquisitive about the past or in history ….
# when did the PANCHKOT KINGDOM established? and How ?
# who were the kings of PANCHKOT , the names , How were they as a ruler of Panchkot?
# Are they native or came from somewhere else if yes then where did they came from?
# Till How long GARPANCHKOT was able to hold their Sovereignty under the period of different most powerful and aggressive rulers of the Indian history such as LODHI’S , SER SHAH and MUGHAL’S till BRITISH Period ( From East India company to Queen Victoria )… ?
# How Long did the PANCHKOT KINGDOM last…? From which dynasty they belongs to?
# Any of those King is still alive or not….?
My Dear Friend, all the answers are there in the stories of past means History….
The First throne King and the Founder of the PANCHKOT KINGDOM was DAMODAR SEKHER SINGH DEO (SINGHA DEB) son of the great MAHARANA JAGAT DEO SINGH of RAJPUTNA ( RAJASTHAN) belongs to the PARAMAR DYNASTY of Rajasthan . Normally the great Rajput MONARCHY are mainly divided into four main dynasty.
# Padmar(Paramar) # Chouhan(Chopahany) # Solanki (Sulka) # Parihar
If you pull the string of PARAMAR dynasty , the first king was The Great Kesari Paramar lived at AMBABATY PALACE at ABANTI (presently UJJAYAN)and other most notable ancestors of that dynasty’s were GANDHARBA SEN then comes the most famous king of the Indian history MAHARAJA BICHRAMADITTYA the great , MANJISH SINGH ,UDAYACHAL SINGH , JAGAT SINGH , SANTO SINGH , HUNKAR SINGH , UDYADITTYA SINGH ( built the famous MANDU FORT at DHARA city of Rajasthan). JAGAT DEO SINGH the father of DAMODAR SEKHER SIGNH DEO the founder of PANCHKOT KINGDOM.
A small story about the first throne king of PANCHOKOT .….
The king JAGAT SINGH DEO once decided to visit SRI KHETRA presently PURI in order to pay homage to the god JAGANNATH , the queen BIRMOTI wanted to visit PURI too but then she was newly pregnant. Puri was far away from RAJPUTANA , have to spent several months on the road. There was no car available at that time, Palki (Palanquin) was the only convenience for the royal females like queens and princess. The road mostly covered with forest and hills. During that period visiting PURI from Rajasthan was the most arduous task for a common man even that implies for the royals also. On the flip side the queen BIRMOTI became utterly desperate to visit PURI accompanied with her husband in order to pay homage to SRI JAGANNATH DEV together. Due to her pregnancy if the king wouldn’t allow her to be with him, hence she decided to hide her pregnancy to the king, anyhow she managed it also and out for PURI with the King. On the way to PURI Jagat Deo Singh sited a charming place nearby JHALDA ( presently under PURULIA district) surrounded by the several small hills and forest, decided to take rest for few days and ordered to pitch the tents under the hill. In Between, the queen became heavily pregnant and gave birth of a HE child here. The new born remain quiet for long period of time after taken birth so the royal maid thought the new born was dead by birth and the same passes to the king, they left him on the nearby jungle. The King became sad left the place early, continue his journey towards Puri.
But new born wasn’t dead, anyway he survived and rescued by the local tribal. The newly born sweet little unfortunate prince handed over to the headman of their clans. Earlier PANCHOKOT used to be ruled by SEVEN local tribal heads known as Sardar, residents were mostly tribal the terrain was largely covered by the small hills and dense forest. They were very happy having the new born in their clan and treated him as their own son. One more thing plunge them into addiction to the new born due to the lack of descendent of HE CHILD in their own blood line among the entire seven clan heads. Later when they came to know about his true royal origin makes them happiest ever and accepted the little prince whole heartedly and solemnly. Gradually that little boy established the PANCHKOT KINGDOM with the time acquiring the nearby disturbed provinces of JHALDA by his own strength and with the help of the fatherly Local heads of seven clan. Became the first sovereign King of PANCHKOT and throne in the name of DAMODAR SHEKHAR SINGH DEO, get married to the princes of MANBHUM. The middle name SHIKHAR was inherited from the name of the highest peak of PANCHET range named SHEKHAR and title SINGH DEO (SINGHA DEV) inherited from his original ancestors of Rajasthan ( Jagat Singh Deo ).
In the history of Indian monarchy new chapter added, the PANCHKOT kingdom ruled by the SINGH DEO dynasty on the Chotonagpur Platue during ( Date ?). He was in throne around sixty one year approximately.
The PANCHKOT remains under the realm of Singh Deo Dynasty till 1954 until the monarchism abolished by the Indian Government. In that long period till 1954 PANCHKOT used to be ruled by the sixty seven SINGH DEO King almost till the last one BHUNESWARI PRASAD SINGH DEV (DEO).
After the Damodar sekher Singh Deo , Indrasekhar , Mukundashekhar , Ramchandrasekhar , Purusatyamsekhar, Bhagabatsekhar , Anirudhasekhar are the very few to name with as king of Panchkot. Among them the most renown and notable kings were INDRASEKHAR , KIRTINATH SEKHAR( built the Main Fort at PANCHKOT around 992),KALYAN SEKHAR SINGH DEO(( 1291 – 1316) built the KALYANESWARI Temple at CHALLADAHA presently nearby BARAKAR and establishes the goddess SHAYAMRUPA here. Originally the SHAYAMRUPA Idol was the family goddess of the great SEN DYNASTY of Bengal utterly believed the family fortune was the blessings of this deity only. The king Kalyan Sekhar Singh Deo got her as a gift by getting married to the princess SADHNA, the beloved daughter of the king BALLAL SEN and the sister of LAXMAN SEN.)
PANCHKOT Kingdom has seen lot of changes in the Indian history but that doesn’t leave any direct effect to them anyhow they were able to keep their sovereignty intact. On 1026 The Furious Emperor SULTAN MAMUD plundered SOMNATH TEMPLE and ravaged it, during that period PANCHKOT was under the jurisdiction of the king GAJRAJ SEKHAR SINGH DEO. Again Under the realm of the king HARISHCHANDRA SEKHAR the most notorious and rapacious plunderer of the history ever MOHAMMAD GHORI invaded India and in the realm of The King HIRALAL SEKHAR the first Mughal Emperor BABAR invaded India by conquering IBRAHA LODHI and established the Mughal Empire at Delhi around 1526.
At last under the realm of BALABHADRA SEKHAR the PANCHKOT has been lost his sovereignty and became a tributary state under MUGHAL EMPIRE.
Again under the realm of SATRUGNA SEKHAR around 1722 PANCHKOT added as a part of Undivided Bengal and declared as tributary state under the realm of the NAWAB ALIBARDI KHAN and imposed the tax amount as Rs19526 per year. Faced the BARGI attack of BHASHAR PANDIT on the same period. It has to be heard that under the same period The famous MALLAR King of BISHNUPUR GOPAL SINGHA ( BIRHAMBIR ) captured the half portion of PANCHKOT state and later at 1707 East India Company became the landlord of 24 PARGANAS at Kolkata, the first step of BRITISH Empire.
Finally around 1815 Bengal comes under the jurisdiction of East India Company so as PANCHKOT, under the realm of King BHARAT SEKHAR SINGH DEO (1792 – 1815).
Till now we have heard the story of the King (His Story) the male dominance at the PANCHKOT monarchy, the rulers were all male. But for certain period of time since 1826 to November 1848 PANCHKOT Kingdom also ruled by a Queen. She was the princess of KEONJHAR Estate became the queen of PANCHKOT after getting married to MAHARAJA JAGJIBAN SINGH of PANCHKOT. She was exceptionally genius at monarchism and generous also, within a few years of marriage she was able made her mark at PANCHKOT monarchy on both at inside and outside. She ruled PANCHKOT graciously under the realm of East India Company. Under her period the capital of PANCHKOT has been shifted to KASHIPUR nearby GARPANCHKOT around 1839.Due to some internal problem with her only beloved son NILMONY SINGH DEO, she was shattered utterly broken down by the unexpected behaviour from her very own son, left the palace and thorn forever. Later NILMONY SINGH DEO came to the throne around 1851 after the demises of his father king JAGJIBAN SINGH DEO.
At 1857 India came under the direct jurisdiction of The British Empire under the almighty Queen Victoria from the East India Company.
As a king NILMONY SIGH DEO was generous, proficient, cultured and was versed in music. The Famous Poet MICHEL MADUSUDHAN DUTTA was there on his time, appointed as Estate manager of KHASHIPUR. On his realm GARPANCHKOT Estate used to earn a revenue of 2 lakhs 31 thousand per year. He declared a Scholarship as “PANCHKOT SANSKRIT SCHOLARSHIP“ of Rupees Two Thousand in Sanskrit language at CALCUTTA UNIVERSITY. Passed away on 1898, JHOTYPASAD SINGH DEO became the next king of PANCHKOT presently KASHIPUR Estate and was the last renown king of PANCHKOT. On his period the periphery of PANCHKOT was 2779 square miles and MUNBHUM, BURDWAN, BANKURA, RANCHI was under the jurisdiction of PANCHKOT and came to the fame after buying the DALIJORA Estate of KATAK , periphery of 21 square miles, entitled as KING at 1912. Got married to the sister of the King SRI RAMCHANDRA of MAYURBHANG Estate.
BHUBANESWARI PRASAD SINGH DEO is the present king. That was somehow the king’s and Queen story of PANCHKOT MONARCHY.
Now just the ruins are there only the PANCHRATNA TEMPLE stands as flag holder of PANCHKOT KINGDOM.
