Bankiput is an unexplored sea beach lined by dense casuarina forest, where you can get the privacy from the madding crowd and speeding cars. Come and enjoy the silence of Bankiput along with the millions of red crabs which pop out their heads now and then from their burrows in this beach. Do walk around this lovely beach with your dear ones and enjoy the sun rise and the sun set amidst the bed of red crabs.
This lonely beach has other attractions a fully operational Lighthouse in nearby Dariapur, an age-old temple of Kapalkundala and Deshapran Fishing Harbour at Petuaghat all within 7 Kms of Bankiput. The kapalkundala temple finds its mention in the novel of Bankim Chandra.
Pethuaghat is located on Rasoolpur River, where it meets the sea is around 5 KM from Bankiput. Desharpan fishing harbor is must see in Pethuaghat. You can have a close look of fishing trawlers in this harbor. Fish lovers can buy some fresh as well as dried fishes in this harbor.Junput( 5 km ) and Haripur( 8 KM ) are nearby beaches one can visit.
The two trains are available from Howrah to Kanthi (Contai)on Regular basis. From kanthistation you may hire trekker or private taxi to reach Bankiput.

One can board a Digha bound bus from Esplanade(Dharmatala) and four and half hour journey will reach Kanthi (Contai). From here, you may reach Bankiput on a hired carriage.
By own vehicle you can go Via NH – 6(Bombay Road)
Kolkata – Kolaghat: 72kms.
Kolkata – Nandakumar: 101kms.
Kolkata – Contai: 154kms.
From Contai (Kanthi) take the road towards Junput. After reaching Junput stand, you have to take the road connecting Baghaput. Just halfway towards Baghaput, you would find a bifurcation towards Bankiput.
Bankiput is Located in PurbaMedinipur, West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay of Bengal. It is an isolated beach located very near to Junput (4 kms).
